This privacy policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit PORTAL.INTSILO.COM (the Intsilo Learning Portal), why we collect that data and how we use it.

The Intsilo website address is INTSILO.COM and is owned by Intsilo Ltd, a limited liability company registered in England and Wales. Our company number is 12864361 and our Data Protection Register number is ZA930979.

Intsilo Ltd operates two websites: INTSILO.COM and PORTAL.INTSILO.COM. This privacy policy relates to our use of personal data by the Intsilo Learning Portal at PORTAL.INTSILO.COM. There is a separate privacy policy for intsilo.com.

Details of the personal data we collect

When you visit our website we record the use the following personal information:

Contact details

We you create an account at learning.intsilo.com we collect the following personal information:

  • name
  • email address
  • geographic location (optional).

You may edit your personal data from the Profile section within the Intsilo Learning Portal.

Course engagement and progress

We record details of:

  • The courses in which you are enrolled.
  • Detailed information about your activity within each course, including the date and time of when course-specific information was viewed and/or updated, the address of the machine from which the access was made, browser identification and information about the referring web page.
  • Information about contributions to courses, including contributions to chat rooms and discussion forums, ownership of resources, assignment/file submissions, text matching scores and evidence of participation in other activities used withing Intsilo courses.
  • Information and data related to your grades, feedback comments, scores, completion data, access rights and group membership.

How we use your personal data

The personal data you provide is used to:

  • Provide you an account and identify you within the IntsiloLearning environment
  • Provide you access to courses/modules
  • Provide you the ability to upload, amend and delete certain information within a course
  • Provide you access to the information, resources and activities within a course
  • Control access to different parts of the learning environment
  • For system administration and bug tracking
  • Report on course, resource and activity access, activity completion, course completion and course data (such as grades, scores, submissions and content uploaded)
  • For producing usage statistics for management, planning and development purposes.

Our legal bases for processing personal data are:

  • Contract – Article 6.1(b), UK GDPR
  • Legitimate Interest – Article 6.1(f), UK GDPR

We rely on contract as the lawful basis for processing your contact details and any personal data you choose to submit as part of any of our learning modules. Your contact details are used to set up a unique user account, to identify you throughout the course and to personalise any certificates or other personalised outputs.

The data you provide in during our online courses (e.g. contribution to online discussions, completing quizzes, submitting assignments) are used to guide your learning and assess whether you have achieved the learning goals. The legal basis we rely on for processing personal data you provide as part of a course is also contract since providing online learning is the service you have asked us to provide to you.

The activity data we collect is used to monitor and manage system performance and security. We rely on legitimate interest for the processing of this data.

Who has access to your personal data

Intsilo staff

Intsilo staff have access to all information stored within the Intsilo Learning Portal environment for the purposes set out above.

If you require technical support, Intsilo staff, in the process of providing support, may navigate and interact with your account. To do this we may temporarily take control of your account. We will not add, edit or delete any data when doing this, without your permission. We will never ask you for your password.

When providing support, we may also duplicate your data and transfer it into another part of the system or to a test system. This is to allow us to carry out investigations, test solutions and provide you with support.

Cohort managers

The owner of a multi-use enrolment key ( the 'cohort manager') can see:

  • The names of students who have enrolled on courses using subscription code(s) which they manage
  • Completion status and grades awarded to students who have used the subscription code.

Certificate verifiers

Anyone visiting PORTAL.INTSILO.COM/VERIFY can enter the unique id of a course certificate and see the name of the student to which it was awarded, the course name and certificate issue date.

How long we keep your data

All data relating to active accounts will be retained until either the account is deleted due to inactivity or the account holder requests the account be deleted. An inactive account is one that:

  • has been created but never verified (deleted after 1 week)
  • has been inactive for 6 months and not enrolled in any course(s) using an active enrolment code.

What rights you have over your data

You have the right to request that we delete your personal data and/or provide you with a portable copy of your data. These rights can be exercised directly through the Intsilo Learning Portal use the options within the Profile section.

Cookies

We use cookies to manage your login to the Intsilo Learning Portal. These are the cookies we use:

Our course videos are hosted by Google Drive which uses cookies to manage delivery of the content. These cookies are set by Google and are therefore classed as 3rd party cookies. In order to view the videos you must allow drive.google.com to use 3rd party cookies on your device.

This privacy policy does not cover other websites that we may link to or that may provide embedded content to PORTAL.INTSILO.COM.

Some pages and blog articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.) and/or links to other websites. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you had visited the other website, including collection of personal data and use of cookies. These websites may also embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

If you click on a link to a web page outside the PORTAL.INTSILO.COM domain then the web page displayed will operate under the T&Cs and privacy policies of that website.
